Are we really so different that we must be horrified of one of them uncovered, and completely okay with the other? There are many good posts like this, but I particularly like this one for a couple of reasons. One, the man in the picture has shaved armpits, and it’s nice to see a slightly “feminized” man in a post about gender. Two, the way the question is framed: “Are we really so different?” So often, things are presented in a gender dichotomy, the Mars and Venus complex. But men and women are so much more alike than different. We’re all human beings; we all share something like 99.97% of our DNA. So to take a relatively superficial difference like male/female and exaggerate it to the point that we have is pretty stupid, really. (I don’t mean that we should deny misogyny, obviously. Quite the opposite. I think that when we encounter misogyny - or, for that matter, misandry - we should ask ourselves why the person reinforcing it thinks the genders are so different that one should be persecuted. Even if that person is ourselves.) (Also, frankly, these people are both really beautiful. Not hot or sexy… just beautiful.)
